First of all, a huge Happy New Year to you all, and this year I vow to post more often! So as you may know, I am a complete and utter eyeshadow addict. I’m constantly trawling through different Instagram feeds to find the newest additions to the market, that may or may not make their way into my beauty room.
I wear eyeshadow on a daily basis. For the most part I stick to my beloved neutrals, but I love experimenting with different colours and really trying to step outside of my comfort zone.
In 2018, we saw some fantastic eyeshadow palettes emerge onto the market, so I thought I’d do a little round up of my favourites that I most definitely couldn’t live without.
Urband Decay, Born to Run palette;
So probably one of my all time favourite eye shadow palettes ever came out in 2018, and this palette will hold a special place in my heart, as I used it to create my bestie’s wedding make up for her magical day!
As you can see from the above photo, this palette includes everything you need to create any look. Whether that is a minimal and natural look, a smoky eye or a full on colourful explosion.
The palette contains a mixture of formulas from mattes, to shimmers and to glitters. The pigmentation in this palette is no joke. I literally cannot say enough good things about this palette, I would recommend this to anyone and it is a definite must for me!
Obviously, for wedding makeup we opted for a very neutral look, and I think the results are absolutely stunning, see what you think!
Next up; Tarte Rainforest of the Sea palette
This palette is adorable. I love the packaging, and the fact that it’s so compact means I can travel with this really easily, and the mirror is a really great size. The formula of these eyeshadows is really unusual, it’s a clay formula and they’re so soft and creamy, they are really unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before.
As you can see there are some really stunning shades in this, the shimmer shadows are stunning and glide on so smoothly. There’s a few limitations to this palette – I can create some really stunning looks with this but when I’m at home I tend to use this in addition to another palette. However, this palette is very me in terms of the shades and I look forward to experimenting with this more in 2019.
Morphe, Dare to Create palette;
This palette is really doing bits. As with any Morphe palette, they’re really affordable for the amount of shadows you get. I love the formula of Morphe shades and own several of their palettes at this point.
I really like how they’ve made big pans for the shades that you need to create any look, which is always a bonus as I tend to hit pan on the shades I use for transition all the time.
The colour selection in this palette is incredible, I love how you can create so many different looks with this one palette. The only downside to this is that is really large so it’s difficult to travel with, and there’s no mirror, but aside from that, this is a definite staple in my collection.
Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Vault Collection;
So I’m an OG Jaclyn Hill fan. I’ve been watching her since day one, and I’m pretty sure at this point I’ve purchased everything she has ever collaborated on. There was a lot of controversy around these palettes as the first release was a bit hit and miss in terms of formulation, however, I seem to have got the V2 so mine are all good.
I enjoy the colour selection in these and they’re handy to travel with as well, as they’re really compact and have a great sized mirror. How she has compiled these palettes is pretty great, by ensuring that the shades work together with a variety of formulas.
The pigmentation on these is brilliant and they blend like an absolute dream. These are great palettes for creating a glam look, to a neutral look and even to a colour eye.
& Finally, Huda Beauty, New Nude;
This palette came out quite a way into 2018, and I’m so glad it did! Huda is another brand that I can’t fault, I own pretty much everything she creates, from palettes to highlighters, liquid lips and lashes.
Adore the colour composition in this palette, and you can create some really stunning looks with this palette. There are a range of mattes, glitters and even some pearlescent formulas, which I’ve never seen done before and boy do they mean business.
I haven’t played with this palette a lot but enough to know I cannot live without it. You can create some incredibly beautiful looks with this and the pearlescent shadows are on another level.
That’s a wrap…
So that’s it for me, I think I could have added a few more to this. However, the post is probably a bit too long at this point and you may have all fallen asleep!
Also, big shout out to my beautiful besties for letting me use their faces as my personal easel!
What were your favourite palettes of 2018?
