Charlotte Tilbury Haul
Over the weekend I just happened to wander into the Charlotte Tilbury section of Selfridges. I own nothing of Charlotte Tilbury and have heard some amazing things about the products. I thought I’d rectify the situation and have a little splurge. I had my face make up redone. I was extremely impressed, unlike my bank account.
First of all I picked up the Magic Foundation in the shade number 5. I’m fairly pale at the minute and this matches my skin tone well.
What attracted me to this foundation was the fact that it claims to give you flawless, poreless and youthful looking skin. I suffer from large pores and I just want something to give me a smooth finish. This foundation contains vitamin C, Hyaluronic Filling Spheres and mushroom extract. Mushroom? Bit of an odd ingredient.
Above and below is the foundation swatched. It may look dark against my hand but matches my face.
The texture of this foundation is quite thick actually, it reminds me a bit of the Studio Sculpt from Mac. It blends really well. I’ve found the best trick is to use a kabuki brush and then I just go over with my beauty blender afterwards to just ensure the product is really blended.
The only negative thing to say about this foundation is that throughout the day it does get a little oily.
Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder:
Next I picked up the Airbrush Flawless Finish powder. The main thing I just have to address with this powder is how finely milled it is. I have never, ever used a powder with this formulation. It is so buttery and smooth and goes onto the skin beautifully. This does not cake up on top of foundation or give you that chalky/powdery look, it just abolishes shine from the skin and leaves your skin looking beautiful.
This powder isn’t a flat matte powder either, it’s a very unique formulation in that way. This gets rid of the shine but leaves your skin just looking natural as opposed to completely mattifying or flattening the skin.
If you’re looking for a powder that controls oil and shine all throughout the day without having to retouch, then this is not the powder for you my friends. If you’re the type of person reapplies throughout the day then you’re golden with this. Unlike normal powders this doesn’t cake up throughout the day.
Filmstar Bronze & Glow:
The final item I picked up is the Filmstar Bronze and Glow highlight and contour kit. This for me is the perfect everyday highlight and contour. You know when you’re at work and you don’t want that extreme contour and that on fleek highlight, you just want something a bit more natural and flawless, then this is the kit for you.
Agreed, this is definitely the secret that the silver screen sirens have kept for themselves. The formulation of this product is beautiful, it applies so easily that even a beauty newbie couldn’t go wrong with this.
The packaging to me is just everything. I mean come on how can you not fall in love with the packaging alone! It looks gorgeous on your vanity and is compact enough to take with you on the go. I use the contour shade on the cheeks, my nose, cupids bow and temples. It’s the perfect shade, not too ashy, not orange, it doesn’t look muddy on the skin at all it just gives you that gorgeous sun kissed glow.
The highlighter is perfect in this, the swatch below doesn’t really pick it up that well on camera but you can see that natural glow that it gives the skin. For me this is perfection. I love a popping highlighter on a night out or for date night but when you work in an office environment on a day to day basis you don’t really want that lightbulb glow. I use this on the tops of the cheeks, on the brow bone, cupids bow and the tip of the nose. I’m the type of person that doesn’t normally highlight their nose at all, but with this I actually enjoy the look it gives.
