I’d been umming and ahh’ing about this product for a little over 6 months now and finally took the plunge to buy it. It wasn’t the price or anything that was putting me off, it was simply the fact that I have a ridiculous amount of facial oils and over night treatments that I couldn’t justify purchasing another one until I’d made a substantial dent in some of the others.
However, browsing Debenhams website one day it just happens to pop up and I figured I’d go ahead and add it to my already overflowing basket/bag on there. Needless to say, I’m very glad I brought this.
Clarins describes the product as;
“The Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil is a targeted treatment for dehydrated skin that tones, revitalises and restores radiance to moisture-depleted skin. Utilising the principles of aromatherapy and phytotherapy, the moisture care face oil combines plant extracts and essential oils to help balance the skin. Made from 100% pure plant extracts, this best-selling face oil contains extracts of Rosewood, Patchouli and Blue Orchid. Added Hazelnut Oil helps prevent moisture loss and the formation of fine lines. The rebalancing moisturiser for dry skin nourishes and revitalises dehydrated skin, and leaves it feeling satin soft. Suitable for dry or combination skin.”
My skin definitely falls into the dehydrated category, my main problem – not enough water, too many cups of tea throughout the day.
I must say that I have noticed a significant difference in my skin. I had really awful acne and still have a lot of spots underneath the skin which haven’t quite graced my face with their presence yet, I also had a lot of scarring on my face from my severe acne days and throw in some dry skin on top of that and you end up with not a very pleasant base for makeup to hide all of the nasty bits. With that being said, I have noticed a severe reduction in the redness and the scarring on my face, I’ve also noticed that my breakouts are becoming few and far between and the dry skin I was talking about? Gone! If you suffer with any of the above I would definitely recommend giving this a go.
The texture of this product is that of a typical oil, it sinks in nicely on the face and you can use as little or as much as you desire, I tend to go for about 3-4 drops on a normal night if my skin is behaving, and 5-6 if it’s feeling a little dry or I feel some breakouts happening. The smell is the typical spa like smell, some people may absolutely hate that but I quite like it considering I used to work in a spa I find the smell very relaxing, which is ideal when you’re settling down for the night.
I would definitely say that this product has become one of my holy grail products, I reach for it every single night because the results in the morning never fail to amaze me.
So if you want to wake up with super smooth, soft and rehydrated skin. If you want to minimise the amount of breakouts and reduce the pigmentation in old acne scarring, I suggest you pick up a bottle of this wonder oil. There are three different types of oil that Clarins offer; the Blue Orchid (above) aimed at dehydrated skin, the Lotus oil aimed at oil/combination skin and finally the Santal oil for dry skin. Remember when purchasing these oils there is a difference between being dry and dehydrated, if you would like a follow up blog post on how to identify what skin type you are, just leave it in the comments below.
